BALMORAL RESTAURANT HOSTS FREE MEAL FOR SENIORS
More Than 200 Guests Enjoy a Luxury Meal of Grand Scottish Fare at No Cost

Campton Hills, IL — Balmoral Restaurant invited local seniors 65 and older to a free meal on Thursday, February 20, at their Campton Hills location on Illinois Route 64. All seatings of the dinner were booked out in 24 hours with no promotion! The event was designed to celebrate National Senior Citizens Day six months early, to help warm up the normally bleak and cold winter months here in the Chicago area. In attendance were 210 seniors and their guests, who enjoyed a gourmet threecourse meal at one of America’s most authentic restaurants for Scottish cuisine, located on the western edge of St. Charles, in the far west suburbs of Chicago.
Balmoral Restaurant’s owner, Colin Smith, said, “As a way to give back to our local community, we wanted to honor our senior citizens this winter instead of waiting until August. It’s our way of warming up our elders during the bleakest time of year here in Illinois. I try to talk with all my guests – and my heart was full hearing how much this event meant to our local elder population. One woman said it will be the talk of the town for months to come among her friends!” Guest Al Ksiazk of South Elgin added, “The food was excellent and the service was outstanding and attentive.” Starting at 1 p.m. and continuing until 7 p.m., Balmoral closed its doors to the general public to host six seatings of seniors and their guests for a familystyle event featuring traditional Scottish fare. “A wonderful meal was provided to honor our senior citizens, Chef Alanté said. “We started with a choice of our traditional Highlander’s potato and leek soup or a blue cheese salad, followed by either our bestselling Campsie Glen chicken with Stilton blue cheese, or our version of Scotland’s favorite dish, the Edinburgh’s salmon — both served with mashed or croquette potato and vegetables. Our third course featured Ye Auld Sticky Toffee Pudding or Graham’s of Geneva vanilla ice cream with toffee sauce It was our pleasure to cook this special meal for our honored guests!” Balmoral also supported Campton Hills neighbor businesses as sponsors for the event. Fox Valley Ophthalmology held a raffle with special prizes, and Skin Deep Day Spa provided giveaways and discounts, contributing to a day of celebration for seniors. With such a successful first senior event, the restaurant is planning more to come. Smith added, “Knowing how much this gourmet meal was appreciated by our local
citizens, it only inspires us to do more. Stay tuned!”
